I've been tagged...ahhhhh

Well ladies it is time to share some "randomness" about myself...I would like to go on record as seconding the motion of sharing "randomness" about others! It could be fun/offending...I think we could like it! With that said I will move on...

1-- I have lots of goals and aspirations but I don't seem to have the same amount of motivation (or maybe energy) to get things done! That tidbit may be a bit depressing for my 1st item.

2-- I will always have the "Hot Tamale" incident haunting me just like my good high school friends nickname for me...Maybe now the nickname truly applies.

3-- I love music! I love to sing it, dance with it, flaunt with it...you name it with music everything is possible. If my husband and children really loved me they would get me two things for Christmas...

1. Guitar Hero (however I am going to need a hand splint so I don't blow out my fingers...which leads me to another random topic...Guitar Hero! I love it. I have stayed up till the wee hours rocking out and kickin' out those righteous tunes! Obsession...maybe?

2. A karaoke machine! Me and the kids would have so much fun singing karaoke! Well maybe they would just be my fan club!

So the end of this tidbit is I love music! And I have to give Shane props because ever since he has blessed my life with my own little iPod Nano...life has been singing sweet tunes baby!

4-- I like the tangy zip of Miracle Whip on a just after Thanksgiving turkey sandwich! Yumm

5-- I have just recently risen to complete and total "mom" status. This morning while eating my cereal Andrew was sitting on the counter. He had a few spots on his head and so what would any loving mother do...you guessed it... I licked my fingers and wiped it off. Well a few seconds later I saw another so again lick the finger and wipe. The last time Andrew actually saw me lick my finger and he said "that's nasty" I said what? and he commented that "that is nasty we get germs that way!" So yes ladies and gentlemen I have not only completed the very act that makes us Mothers, but my child also knows that when we put our saliva on stuff it gets germs! Now that is an achievement!

Enough about me...I am going to give a "tag-out" to the Rushings...so Shelby, Heidi, Kennedy you're it!!

It's our 9th Anniversary

Today Shane and I celebrate 9 wonderful years of marriage however, it doesn't feel very anniversary-ish because Shane is all the way accross the country and I am not on a beach somewhere soaking up the sun! I guess that luxury will have to wait until the big 10! (sorry inside joke!)

I thought today I would like to reflect on my 9 wonderful years married to most handsome, cheesy, and amazing man ever!

Year 1: We bought our first house in Provo UT. It was so cute and we loved it dearly!

Year 2: I graduated from college and was ready to support our family! haha

Year 3: We trecked to Portland for Shane's internship with Deloitte & Touche

Year 4: The twins were born-enough said!

Year 5: We moved into our new house in Vancouver WA.

Year 6: Shane worked a lot and maybe that is why this year has slipped my memory!

Year 7: Shane took me to Puerto Rico with a little help from Momma.

Year 8: Ty joined our family!

Year 9: Many more adventures to come!

I would like to send out my love to my hunny today! Happy Anniversary Baby!

Christmas is...

Have you all heard the song..."Chirstmas is giving, Chirstmas is caring, Christmas is..." Well I would like to say that around these parts Christmas time is a time to show your brother(s)/sister how much you love them. Last night while forcing my kids to take holiday pictures for our Chirstmas cards these are a few of the shots I got! By the end you may be not be singing the song as stated above but singing a different song... maybe "where is the love...the love?"

Ty did not want to be touched or held in one place. Especially by his two siblings!

See they do love each other!

What a picture of perfection! Alli clearly loves her brother, Ty clearly has too much fun whacking others, and Andrew had already been hit in the head a few times earlier and knew what to expect!

Let there be LIGHTS!

Well ladies and gentlemen! Today I would like to announce that the Rushing family now has joined in the Christmas light festivities. It has been a long 9 years in coming but finally the day has come!

Shane is not a big fan of putting up Christmas lights. It might stem from his childhood experiences...I am not sure. However, I have always wanted to put up lights. So... last year at the after Christmas sales I bought lights! And today those lights with additional ones I found at the after Thanksgiving sales this year went up! With the help from a neighbors step ladder (Alli and Andrew occasionally) we now have lights. The lights above the garage are shimmering snowflakes cute huh?? I am just so excited about this and so excited for Shane to see them when he gets home!

So today for my good deed I spread holiday cheer to my 3 little ones who were so excited to see the lights. Ty said "whoaaaaa!" We are all happy about the lights! Now we just need to get us a Christmas tree and we will officially be in the Christmas spirit!

Tis the Season

This season I thought that I should try to set a "little" goal. Well for me I think it will be a HUGE goal! My goal is to do a act of kindness/service/whatever everyday until Christmas!

Dec. 1st - I took Alli and Andrew on a "Mommy Outing" to see Enchanted!
Dec. 2nd - I read a Chapter in the B of M! That was a miracle!
Dec. 3rd - We had some family time playing Monopoly! Good Times!
Dec. 4th - I volunteered in Alli's classroom. (Okay it was already scheduled but it still counts right?)

Tomorrow? We shall see!

So I challenge you all to spread the Holiday Cheer with a little act of kindness everyday!

Happy Birthday to my Honney!

I am a bit late posting this! However, the birthday festivities were right on time. Well with the exception of one thing. I was unable to take Shane out for his birthday because our kids got sick. One after another. We are still in sick mode!
Anyway, I wanted to tell my sweetheart happy birthday and share some things that I love about him with you!

1. I love his blue eyes!
2. I love his humor. He keeps me laughing most of the time! It is a good thing he knows when he should be serious and when he can goof around!
3. I love his willingness to support our family in more ways than one!!
4. He is a wonderful father and because of him I enjoy all of my wonderful experiences daily!
5. He is a fantastic surface cleaner! I am trying to convert!
6. He still loves me after I washed his favorite/sentimental belt!
7. He is fabulous and I love him to death!
8. I love that every time I see the color Orange I think of him!
9. He still things I'm cute when I haven't showered, my hair looks like I put my finger in a socket and I am covered in kid slop!
10. What is not to love about this man!

I love you a lot and hope that you will have a wonderful year! You are the best.

Name that tune!

To all the procrastinating, overwhelmed, heavy burdened souls out there! Including myself at times...but only when it is rainy outside! Sunshine spreads a thick layer of creamy sweet "life is great" icing on my little cupcake of worry! And with that said on to the game!

I'm not gonna stop, not gonna stop till I get my shot. That's who I am, that is my plan, will I end up on top you can...

Have fun!

More Pumpkin Patch

Here they are. I know that you all are loosing sleep because I haven't posted more pics yet!!

He likes to pose for the camera! What a cutie he is!

Alli in a sea of pumpkins! She was on the hunt for the perfect one!

He loved all of the BIG pumpkins. He wanted to get one but he couldn't pick them up!

To the Pumpkin Patch.

Today was a great day. Shane called me around 2pm and said he was on his way back to work after being at a clients for the afternoon. I was chatting with him about stuff when I heard the garage door open! Hooray...He came home early! That was a great surprise because we (me & kids) haven't seen him pretty much since Monday the 10th. He has been working late because of Oct 15th deadlines and then on Friday we took him to the Airport! He was able to go to the BYU game this weekend in Vegas with a bunch of his college buddies! So long story short...we were all excited to see him!

So, since Dad was home we decided to go to the pumpkin patch and pick us some great pumpkins! And as always...Mom was ready with the camera to capture great shots because fyi...that pumpkin patch is a great backdrop for fabulous pictures!

The kids had so much fun running around and crawling thru the hay tunnels! Ty walked around pointing to the pumpkins saying "baaa" which translated means "ball". Alli was looking for the best "medium round" pumpkin. She wants to put a skeleton on her pumpkin! Andrew walked all over the pumpkins like they were stepping stones! It was great fun! There were not a lot of people around and we had rain free weather! It was a great afternoon spent with the family! Oh...and I did get some great shots!

p.s. -- Blogger is having technical difficulties so I will post more pics tomorrow!

Attention!!!

As of October 13, 2007 the Rushing Family will no longer be accepting germs in any form or level. We graciously received our quota for the year around July and have been overwhelmed with the amount of eager germs, bacterias and viruses that we have been filling back orders for the last 3 months. However, the CEO/COO and the CFO have jointly discussed that because of the overwhelming response we must stop accepting all and any shape/form of any and all of the above stated entities. We are sorry for the inconvenience that this may cause to any of you who may still be awaiting entrance but we must close our doors for the remainder of the year. In the new year insurance will be adjusted and our status will be evaluated and it will be at that time that we will make an announcement as to whether germs will be allowed again. We hope this does not create any ill feelings. Thank you again for your understanding in this matter.

Sincerely,

Julie Rushing
CEO/COO
The Rushing Family, LLC.

Okay so that was a very long drawn out expression of my frustration. I need a creative outlet. That is why I have this blog right? Well today we learned that Andrew has Molluscum. It is like a chicken pox virus but it is not chicken pox. He has little pimple like bumps all over his body. Today he went to the Dermatologist and he had around 10-12 bumps on his neck alone treated with acid!!!! Yeah we are excited for the next 24 hrs when he will be extremely contagious!
It seems that washing hands, germ lotion, lysol disinfectant, clorox wipes are not enough to keep my family healthy! Ty has had a continuous cold since ohhh...August? We have had the stomach flu ohhh...3-4 times with the potential for more! And now we have Mollescum that will be hanging round for the next 2-4 months if we are lucky! So, I thought if I posted a note to all of our little germy friends to stay away...our quota has been met!

More Card Co????

Today in the car I experienced something I think every "Mom" should experience! We had just dropped off a lady in the ward we took to a Dr. appt. As I am backing out the drive way Alli asks...

Alli: Mom are you a Super Mom?
Me: Well I don't know? Do you think I am a Super Mom?
Alli: No. (Right away with no hesitation I might add)
Me: Oh okay.
Andrew: I think you are a Super Mom! (he yells that from the back back seat)
Alli: You have to do MORE Card Co. to be a Super Mom.
Me: I have to do more huh?
Alli: Yes, And if you do more THEN...you will be a Super Mom!
Andrew: I think you are already a Super Mom and you don't have to do any more!!!! (I checked his nose when we got home and...of course its not brown! He is my boy!)
Me: Well we will have to tell your Dad that if I do MORE Card Co that makes me a Super Mom then wont we!

So funny! Oh the things that go on in her sweet little brain! I am happy to know that there are things that I can improve upon to become that ever elusive "Super Mom" title! At least I only have one thing and I am sure that I can fix that fairly fast!

So KiKi...you want it you got it baby!

The "Feldman's Tooth Curse" strikes again!!

One early morning oh lets say Wednesday September 5th, as we were hurrying along to prepare for school my sweet Andrew was destined to take a shower. Well, his shower was a momentous occasion...After being in the shower for what seemed to Mommy like forever and continuously reminding him that he can't just stand there under the water he has to get the soap and scrub! So as he was finishing up I was chasing Ty and prodding Alli along because just like the day before...we were going to be late to school!!!! I came to get Andrew out of the shower and when I pulled back the curtain he was looking at me with big scared brown eyes. He was semi shaking as he held up his fingers and said "My tooth was loose and it came out!" I immediately started to freak out like any other good mother would do. "What happened?" "Did you fall?" "WHAT HAPPENED?" He proceeded to tell me as he started to cry that he slipped and knocked his (bottom front) tooth out. Of course he wasn't crying until Mom lost it! So I took the tooth and thought..."There is no way I can put this thing back in so...Okay he will have a hole in his smile for awhile...Thank goodness it is not his top front tooth! So there you have it. And then instead of crying over "spilt milk" or should I say "another tooth sacrifice to the Feldman Tooth Gods" we started to plan for the Tooth Fairy. (I guess the curse struck us again because technically we didn't sacrifice a tooth when Alli had a bit of a run in with this darn curse.) Andrew informed me that "bad teeth get a penny and good teeth get a dollar. So that night we put his first tooth under his pillow! He was excited to see what the Tooth Fairy had in store...Penny or Dollar? What do you think?

Happy Birthday Andrew & Alli

Today we celebrated Andrew and Alli's 5th birthday! It is hard to believe that it has been five years since I held my newborn babies. They are growing up so fast. Alli says that "when you are 5 you can do whatever you want." So she thinks 5 is a magical age! Andrew walked in my room this morning and said "It's my birthday mom!!" They are just thrilled to be 5 and getting to start Kindergarten! I am going to celebrate them by naming 5 things about each of them! I will start with the oldest by 11 minutes!

Alli Jane Rushing

1. She is so sweet and loving to her baby brother.
2. She loves polly pockets.
3. Her favorite colors are pink and red!
4. She loves playing with Andrew.
5. She says the best prayers!

Andrew William Rushing

1. He loves pretending and has a game for everything. Today we watched "Monster House" so later today what did he play...Monster House!
2. He is always running, jumping, and hoping around the house!
3. His favorite color is Orange. He informed me today that he wants an Orange
Birthday when he turns 7!
4. He is such a sweet boy and fun to be around!
5. He loves playing with his sister Alli!

Happy birthday to my sweet little ones!

Update...

Well I would like to inform you all that I have been busy working on all of my "I will" statements. So here is the update.

* I wake up 3 days a week to go work out with a work out group. All of this so I can lose that 5-10lbs.

* I am reading scriptures almost daily. (Does "My First Book of Mormon" count because I read that a lot) Not to mention my church meetings I have with Alli and Andrew to discuss Jesus!

* I have checked out books from the library and have finished the first!

* I am 98.9% completed with Andrew and Ty's rooms. I just need to add a little bit more filling to my cute checkerboard pillows!

* I spent yesterday scouring the house until it was spotless well most of it. All that is left is to clean my bathroom! Which will happen later today!

* I have caught up on all of those little things that needed to be done. Well at least the "needed to be done 2-4 weeks ago ones!"

* I have become a VIP member in the Disney Movie Club.

* I cleaned my computer work space!

That is all I can think of right now. I have to go clean that bathroom!

Shane's Soda...

Okay...Melissa, you aren't the only one who doesn't like me!!! My own husband Ahhh...maybe our astrology signs match! If not...

You Are Dr. Pepper

You're very unique and funky, yet you still have a bit of traditionalism to you.
People who like you think they have great taste... and they usually do.

Your best soda match: Root Beer

Stay away from: 7 Up

This Soda is for me!

I thought this was fun...Thanks Steph for the insight...I am little disappointed that it didn't come out with Diet Dr. Pepper.

You Are 7 Up
Understated and subtle, people warm up to you slowly. But once they're hooked, they can't imagine going back to anyone else!
Your best soda match: Diet Coke
Stay away from: Mountain Dew

Taking time away to play!

Well if you haven't noticed, I have not posted anything new for ohh about a month. Well, I have good reasons...

1. I have been busy accomplishing my goals!! Ha Ha
2. I have went on vacation.
3. I have been recovering from vacation.
4. Now my kids are sick.

The list could go on but I will spare you the continuation! First things first...here is a recap of the last few months...

Andrew and Alli were in their school play "The Wizard of Oz" in May. They were Munchkins. They were the cutest little Munchkins up there! Especially talented too. Andrew could pick his nose and sing all at the same time! (We are working on that one!)
Next up...T-ball. We went to Andrew's last game right before we left for Utah on Vacation. The rain was coming down but the kids played on.
We were all watching under an umbrella! The car was just too far away!

Next up...Graduation! Yes I am now the proud mother of not one but two graduates! Well okay they just graduated from Pre-Kindergarten! They were so cute and they each got to sing at the microphone. They are such cuties!

Okay next up...finally a well deserved Vacation...We went to Grandma Rushing's in Utah to some much needed pool side relaxation. It was a long drive but we made it. We were able to go to Lagoon and play all day, we visited family and friends, and we played a good amount of Puerto Rico and Ticket to Ride! Here are some pics of our fun va-k!

Ty really loved the water! He would point from his stroller at the pool and say "Uhhh." Which means "get me in the pool please!" We had a blast swimmin' in Grandma's pool.

We also were able to go to Provo and visit BYU's campus. The kids were so excited to see the Y on the mountain. Andrew's words were "Look there is a Y...now we need to find the B and the U." And of course when we were traveling thru SLC we did find the U on the mountain! So all we need now is the B!

Okay next up...Lagoon! We spent the whole day there. We were so grateful to David and Melissa for taking Ty for the day. With 100 degree weather we were glad that he got to spend it nice air-conditioned place! As for the rest of us...we spent the day lathering up in sunblock, getting butterflies the tummy, and cooling off just a bit at the water park! This was Andrew and Alli's first experience at a amusement park. They loved it!

We closed the park down and this is what the kids looked like at about 11:45pm that night.

We had a lot of fun. Playing with cousins and spending time with Grandma & getting some good family time in! So now it is time to get back to the real life! Enjoy your summer Vacations!

Love,
the Rushings

Cross your fingers...hold your breath...rub the Budda's belly...

I have just been informed that Shane has a chance to win Guitar Hero in a work raffle! Ohhhhh baby I am hoping for the best. He doesn't want to get it of course because we would then have to get the PS2 system but, I on the other hand I can't contain myself!!! So everyone out there wish me luck! I hardly ever win anything so Karma is on my side right? Maybe I should do nice things today! Quick I need to go start my list...

Tag? Who's it? I'm it?

* I love Hot Tamales although I have been banned from them for reasons not to be discussed!

* I can say that I used to have a lot of talents. I used to play the piano and flute very well and now I don't think very well is quite the word to describe it. I am living proof of the "use it or lose it" phrase!

* Come to think of it I used to do a lot of things that I don't do any longer. Scrapbooking is something that I only do once a year it seems. I love to do it though.
* I prefer chocolate over vanilla.
* I love Sarah McLachlan, Coldplay, John Mayer, Destiny's Child and more.
* I did Karaoke to "Say my name" by Destiny's Child in front of a bunch of strangers on a ship in the middle of the ocean!
* I took French 101 twice and got the same grade! It wasn't that good either! Viva la France!
* I am very indecisive! Just ask anyone!

* I love any kind of fruit. I really like watermelon and I really like to eat it when I am pregnant! I am currently not eating any watermelon nor to I anticipate any watermelon eating in the near future.

* I can't get enough of movies lately! I joined the Disney Movie Club and I am proud to say I am a member!

* There is nothing like a great movie and I just love curling up and watching. In fact watching movies is how I deal with my life...well that and sleeping!

* I like to be organized.

* I don't think anyone that knows me would call me organized. I have a hard time accomplishing tasks.

* I have a lot of unfinished tasks.

* I once tried out for my HS Golf team.

* I didn't make it!

* Shane thinks that is great humor!

* I love to travel, although I don't do it that often. Shane and I have come to find that we can better serve our kids by taking a break to have some fun in the sun!

* I have way too many TV shows I am addicted to! First is The Office. I love love this show. "That's what she said!"

* I can't stop laughing when I watch Scrubs. Shane thinks it is more entertaining to watch me watch the show.

* Of course no Weds night would be complete if I didn't watch Lost! Must say it is a fave of mine!

* One of my nick names from a dear friend in HS is "stools" (thanks Steph)! I had great fun in HS doing various odd and sometimes dangerous things! Have you ever visited Mrs. Robinson's grave? If not I know a group of HS kids that would love to take you to see her!

* I love to dance and sing all the time. I dance in the kitchen when I am making dinner. I give the kids a little show when I make lunch for them! Music is great fun!

* Speaking of music...I LOVE Guitar Hero! That game is sooooo fun and I don't know how much longer I can go without having it!

* I would like to do a lot of things in life but I just can't get organized enough to do them. Either that or I at the end of the day I just don't have the energy to do them!

* I think I have said enough random things about me and people may stop talking to me because they now have concrete evidence that I am "strange" or "psycho." Either one will work!

I would tag someone else but I only 2 people that have a blog and I don't think there are any touch backs!

Ahhh.... Music

There is something about it. I have contemplated my life these last days and have come to the conclusion that music is just great. Now that I have my trusty ipod nano with speakers my kitchen is filled with music, lip syncing/singing, and dancing. For some reason my life is not complicated when I am singing and dancing to music. I sing to Andrew and Alli during their lunch and it is great fun. We all like to jam to the beat. The kitchen is full of groovin' tots and at least one adult! Even Ty gets into it with the shake down and head banging he does in his chair! They probably think their mother is crazy...or maybe that is why they love to sing so much. So today as I was making dinner and listening to the Fugees belt out "No woman No cry" I thought "how cool is it that I am chillin' dancing and grooving to music." All the stresses melt away when I hear that funky beat! So let the music play y'all!

What comes in must come out!

We have been so blessed in our family to experience a never ending cycle of this pleasant "stomach bug." We are just getting over one case and another one bites the dust. No, we have not been to any third world country or experienced food poisoning, however, apparently there is something in the water here! So simply put...ugh!

The Rushing Family

the simple story of our simple lives
